Where It All Started
Founded 1970 — One Farmhouse at a Time
Yemen Electric was founded in 1970 by Vern Yemen from a single farmhouse wiring job. With deep roots in the agricultural community, Vern built the business by travelling farm shows and barnyards across the Ottawa Valley — wiring barns, outbuildings, and farm homes at a time when rural electrification was still expanding.
Word spread fast. A reliable electrician who showed up when he said he would, did the work right, and knew the land as well as the trades — that was something the Ottawa Valley didn't take for granted.

A Family Business, Still Growing
Today, Dorothy Yemen manages the business alongside her sons Brian, Scott and John. The same values Vern built the company on — reliability, quality workmanship, and honest pricing — remain central to everything Yemen Electric does.
The team has grown with a qualified workforce drawn from the Ottawa Valley, taking on a full range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects across the region.

Business Comes Full Circle
Decades after Vern first wired those farmhouses and barns, Yemen Electric now returns to re-modernize them — upgrading the electrical systems Vern originally installed for the children and grandchildren of his first customers.
Second and third generation customers are some of the company's greatest sources of pride. That kind of continuity doesn't happen by accident — it's earned job by job, year by year, across fifty-five years of showing up and doing it right.
